A Note from the SD Democratic Party Field Director
Dear South Dakota Democrats,
I want to personally say thank you to each and every one of you who volunteered to circulate petitions for our local, county, legislative, and statewide candidates. We had petitions circulated from all four corners of our state and everywhere in between. I couldn’t be more proud of our party leaders and volunteers who answered the call, working day and night to get all of our candidates on the ballot.
This grassroots effort is what SDDP is all about. There is no “I” or “me” in this party. It’s “us” and “we” because we are part of a tremendous and amazing team that spans across the entire state, from the smallest towns and counties to the largest cities. It gives me solace knowing we have such an amazing, strong, engaged and determined state party that steps up to help everyone.
I’m extremely proud to announce that because of ALL OF YOU we have:
- 45 County Candidates (County Commission/States Attorney/Treasurer/Auditor)
- 53 Legislative Candidates
- Numerous City Council and School Board candidates across the state
- A Congressional candidate who is running against Dusty Johnson for the first time since 2018!
All of this happened because of YOU!
There’s more work to be done going forward as we enter into the campaign season. I’m confident that the South Dakota Democratic Party is stronger and more dedicated than ever before and that we will elect more Democrats in 2024 from city councils all the way up to Congress. Keep an eye out for voter registration drives across the state in the very near future.
Even though the general election is seven short months away, I can say that March was a win for the Democratic Party in South Dakota. We are stronger together.
In closing, be proud of yourselves and more importantly, be proud to be a Democrat in South Dakota!
In the words of the late Randy Seiler “It’s a great day to be a Democrat!”.
Sincerely,
Joseph Zweifel
