POSITION TITLE: Data & Field Director
REPORTS TO:  South Dakota Democratic Party Chair & ViceChair, Executive Director, and Executive Board
LOCATION: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
HOURS: Monday through Friday, full-time, with occasional evenings and weekend hours.
DESCRIPTION: The Data & Field Director works closely in conjunction with the SDDP Executive Director, under advisement from the State Chair & Vice Chair, and the Executive Board. An ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and a responsible self-starter who has proven leadership and management skills. 

Salary is commensurate with experience. Position open until filled. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Voter File Manager (VFM) and primary VoteBuilder (VAN) Administrator;
  • Meet with the DNC’s Technology Team to understand new tools and data opportunities;
  • Perform all necessary data updates to SDDP’s voter file;
  • Present Votebuilder training and support to county party officers, candidates, volunteers and activists.
  • Manage field personnel to maintain and expand grassroots efforts and primary base;
  • Volunteer recruitment and retention, including during non-election years
  • Develop volunteer mobilization, voter registration and voter contact reporting tools;
  • Assist with development and production of party-building messaging tools, including email, newsletters, website, video, and social media;
  • Understand campaign techniques, planning, targeting, polling, election law, GOTV programs, party building, and pre-election planning;
  • Assist in the recruitment of legislative candidates.
  • Offer support and training to candidates throughout their campaigns.
  • Partner with candidates to identify geographic and voter-specific targets
  • Assist and respond to the State Central Committee and Executive Board & members
  • Support staff for Youth Engagement Committee
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Proficiency in VAN/Votebuilder, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and GSuite (Google) tools;
  • Experience in recruitment and retainment of volunteers;
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs;
  • Experience in working with minority groups or caucuses;
  • Campaign experience, preferably in statewide and/or legislative races;
  • Demonstrated writing and data analysis skills;
  • Ability to plan and manage time sensitive projects with competing needs;
  • Ability to manage details and stay on top of multiple tasks, large and small;
  • Great organizational and communications skills;
  • Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting during peak times;
  • Willingness and ability to travel;
  • A strong commitment to the ideals and values of the South Dakota Democratic Party and its issues;
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Native Outreach & Field Director

POSITION TITLE: Native Outreach & Field Director
REPORTS TO:  South Dakota Democratic Party Chair & ViceChair, Executive Director, and Executive Board
LOCATION: Rapid City, South Dakota
HOURS: Monday through Friday, full-time, with occasional evenings and weekend hours.
DESCRIPTION: The Native Outreach & Field Director works closely with the SDDP Executive Director and other leaders of the Democratic Party to build relationships with Tribal Leaders, Tribal Members, and Democratic County Leadership West River and on reservations. Preference will be given to native candidates. This position is home-based, and candidates must have access to a computer and internet. No office will be provided for the near future.

  • Represent the SDDP at native events & meetings, remotely as needed;
  • Support native population-based regional County Parties and attend County Party meetings, remotely as needed;
  • Serve as a liaison between Tribal Leaders/County Parties and State Party staff;
  • Recruit new volunteers and donors to the South Dakota Democratic Party;
  • Developing volunteer mobilization, voter registration and voter contact reporting tools;
  • Complete required training in VoteBuilder, and train others to use;
