SDDP Adopts 2024 Delegate Selection Plan
Sioux Falls, SD (June 03, 2023) – The South Dakota Democratic Party’s State Central Committee adopted the 2024 Delegate Selection Plan on Saturday, June 3rd during their 10:30 a.m. meeting at the Best Western Ramkota.
South Dakota uses a proportional representation system based on the results of the June 4, 2024 Democratic Primary for apportioning delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The 2024 plan is similar to the 2020 plan with one exception: there will be one central state meeting instead of several regional meetings leading up to the statewide meeting.
The SDDP Chair, Vice Chair, Committeeman, Committeewoman, plus Senator Tom Daschle are considered automatic delegates. Party Leader and Elected Official (PLEO) and 4 At-Large Delegates to the National Convention will also be selected. This brings the SDDP delegation to a total of 19 to the National Convention.
“Our members are excited about the upcoming Democratic Convention. We have great leadership stepping up for our state and nation that will help move our party and nation forward.” -Jennifer Slaight-Hansen
The DNC Convention is slated for the week August 19th, 2024 in Chicago.
