SD Democratic Party Celebrates International Women’s Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 8, 2024

South Dakota Democratic Party Vice Chair Jessica Meyers released the following statement commemorating Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day:

“South Dakota Democrats celebrate the contributions made by countless women in our state and throughout this country. From First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to state Representatives Peri Pourier, Kadyn Wittman, Erin Healy, and Linda Duba as well as Senators Red Dawn Foster and Liz Larson, US Congressional candidate Sheryl Johnson, and women in elected leadership at the local level, we honor them and their accomplishments this month and every month. Women voters have been responsible for mobilizing and uplifting communities across the state and have played a critical role in moving our country forward. While we’ve made so much progress as a country, this month is also a reminder of how much is on the line for South Dakota women this November.

“Women need to be in every room that decisions and laws are made. It is imperative that women and their supporters advocate and vote in a way that allows everyone the ability to make medical choices independently of the government. Democracy is on the line this November and a vote for the Biden/Harris ticket ensures we, as a nation, continue to move forward.”
