BREAKING: South Dakota Republicans Vote Against Protecting Marriage Equality
Congress just passed the Respect for Marriage Act, which, once signed by President Biden, will enshrine marriage equality protections into federal law. South Dakota’s Republican delegation has once again let their constituents down, voting against protecting marriage equality.
South Dakota Democratic Party Chair Randy Seiler released the following statement:
“The votes from South Dakota Republicans against the Respect for Marriage Act show once again just how out of step they are with South Dakotans. While Sen. Thune, Sen. Rounds, and Rep. Johnson refuse to support protections for Americans’ right to marry who they love, Democrats will always fight to protect our fundamental freedoms.”
