Will Mike Rounds force over 13,000 South Dakotans to give up health insurance?
Sioux Falls, SD – While the Rounds for Senate campaign continues to recycle the often rebuked lie that “Obamacare” is robbing Medicare, Mike Rounds has opened himself up to further questioning about his plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
South Dakota reporter Bob Mercer asked this pertinent question, and South Dakotans deserve an answer:
Will Mike Rounds force over 13,000 South Dakotans who already bought insurance on the healthcare exchange to give up their insurance plans?
Reviewing South Dakota’s Republican primary for US Senate, Bob Mercer says:
Somehow, the 2014 Republican Senate primary in South Dakota has turned into a question of whether grandpa will still be able to get his new knee or new hip. That’s because Obamacare is portrayed as siphoning funds from Medicare.
Here’s the part where I become confused.
It would be mean a retired person on Medicare doesn’t get that replacement joint, right?
But wouldn’t it be just as mean to take away Obamacare coverage for a lower-income worker, who is too young for Medicare, and makes too much to qualify for Medicaid, and is paying for an Obamacare policy?
South Dakotans are waiting for Mike Rounds to answer the question. If Mike Rounds gets his way, what happens to the newly insured South Dakotans? Do insurance companies go back to the old way of doing business where they could refuse to sell plans to people with preexisting conditions or deny coverage to people when they need it most? What happens to the newly insured young people who can stay on their parents’ plans until they are 26? What happens to the free preventative care for seniors on Medicare?
If Mike Rounds is going to use lies to scare seniors into repealing the Affordable Care Act, he better have an answer to what happens to all of South Dakota’s beneficiaries when the ACA is gone.
