Sioux Falls, SD – The United States Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, will be making an official visit to South Dakota on September 11 and 12. The visit is part of Secretary Buttigieg’s nationwide tour to engage with communities, discuss transportation infrastructure, and highlight the importance of sustainable and resilient transportation networks.
During his visit to South Dakota, Secretary Buttigieg will meet with local officials, transportation experts, and community leaders to discuss critical transportation issues facing the state. The visit will also include tours of key infrastructure projects and discussions on how federal investments in transportation can benefit the people of South Dakota.
The passage of Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has resulted in millions of dollars for key infrastructure projects across South Dakota. These projects include the current Interstate 90 project in McCook County. South Dakota is also set to receive approximately $207 million dollars to provide internet service to rural households.
