Noem’s quest to become popular in Washington is sinking South Dakota.

When asked about which spending cuts she supported, Noem couldn’t name a one.  Instead, she referred to her approving vote of HR 1, the FY 2011 Continuing Resolution drafted by U.S. House Republicans.  HR 1, huh?  If memory serves us (and it does), HR 1 cut funding to increase ethanol fuel blend to 15%, and to construct ethanol blender pumps and storage facilities.

So, let’s do a little math: Noem supports (and voted for) HR 1’s spending cuts – cuts that decimate ethanol jobs in South Dakota.  She claims HR 1 sets forth her priorities.  Here’s the thing: Noem’s priorities just plain hurt South Dakota.

While it’s clear Noem just isn’t cut out for “tough” conversations that don’t have talking points, South Dakota deserves better.  We just can’t afford Noem’s risky business.
