Chairman’s Note: 465 full time jobs were lost in school districts across South Dakota as a result of Governor Daugaard’s education cuts, according to new survey by the Associated School Boards of South Dakota. The fact is, our school districts would have cut even more jobs without being forced to raise local property taxes, shift costs with budget tricks, and dip into reserves just to keep our children’s education systems afloat. Communities across South Dakota lose when 465 education jobs are needlessly slashed and our children pay for it with fewer resources to succeed.
