Kristi Noem sure has been busy. Between appearing on Fox News to discuss her Tea Party agenda, codling out-of-state donors, and plotting to derail Medicare, who has the time to focus on a measly 4,000 American workers without jobs because you failed to do yours?
It’s quite simple really – Kristi Noem and her leader, House Speaker John Boehner, called it quits and closed shop in Washington without resolving the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shutdown. As Noem and the rest of the Republican Leadership soak up some rays during their vacation days, the FAA awaits reauthorization by Congress. No FAA means 4,000+ civil servants have been furloughed, and dozens of construction projects put on hold – affecting the livelihoods of as many as 70,000 construction workers.
We understand being a member of Congress is hard. You have to make tough decisions and talk about big problems. Here’s the thing – finding (and keeping) a job that pays well enough to put food on the table, a roof over your head, and adequate health care within reach, is hard too.
Working to avert fiscal collapse is one thing. Leaving Capitol Hill to work on your tan as scores of public workers receive pink slips is quite another.
