South Dakota Democrats Applaud SCOTUS Decision on Mifepristone

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 13th, 2024

South Dakota Rep. Erin Healy (District 10) released the following statement after the Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit challenging the FDA’s regulation of the abortion pill mifepristone:

“I am relieved by the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the FDA’s regulation of mifepristone, ensuring women’s continued access to safe and effective reproductive healthcare. The fight for reproductive freedom continues as more work needs to be done to end strict abortion bans throughout our country and right here in South Dakota. Today’s ruling is a step in the right direction to make sure healthcare decisions stay between a patient and their doctor without anti-abortion interest groups and lawmakers getting in the way. As this issue continues to face challenges, Democrats in Pierre will stay committed to protecting your right to your own healthcare.”
