Description
American artist Aaron Shikler was personally selected by Jacqueline Kennedy to paint the portrait of her husband, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. It marked the first time in history that the official White House portrait was completed without a current or former President sitting or standing for the artist. Shikler used a photograph of Senator Edward Kennedy, standing in contemplation at his brother’s grave, as the inspiration for the portrait’s pose. This 11″ x 14″ print was purchased at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, MA in the late 1990’s and beautifully framed by Cliff Hangars Gallery, a museum quality custom frame and art gallery in Sioux Falls. This item was donated by Mike & Pam Cole.
