This Eagleton brand catalog is an interesting piece of campaign memorabilia and political history.
Lot #04: 1972 McGovern Presidential Campaign Catalog
Winning Bid: $25.00

Item condition: Used
Description
This is one of the most unique items in this year’s auction and something for the serious political memorabilia collector. More than a quarter-century before the Internet, Presidential campaigns would mail big catalogs to potential supporters across the country where people could order yard signs, buttons, etc. This Eagleton catalog includes the outer envelope, a 16-page catalog (the photo with the red background below), a replay envelope for orders and a card to mail additional catalogs to other potential supporters. This catalog deserves special note because it lists Senator McGovern’s running mate as Thomas Eagleton, George’s colleague from the state of Missouri. Eagleton, as many know, was shortly forced off the ticket and was replaced by Sargent Shriver, the founding director of The Peace Corps. The item was donated by National Committeeman Dennis Olson.
