[Former U.S. Rep. Frank Denholm] said a seat on that committee is essential to a state with just one member of the U.S. House.
“If we can’t even get people from agriculture states like ours on the committee, that means our spot is going to be filled by someone else, with a different perspective and goals,” Denholm said. “That’s not a good situation, because we just don’t seem to have the farm block we used to have.”
Representative Kristi Noem chose a position on Republican leadership over SD representation on the Agriculture Committee. Her position pits the interests of Washington’s Republican elite against the interests of South Dakota’s agricultural industry. Noem’s misplaced priorities will hurt South Dakota’s farmers, ranchers and our biofuels industry.
