NEW: Sen. Thune and Sen. Rounds Vote Against Lowering Prices for South Dakotans

Yesterday, South Dakota Republican Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds voted against the Inflation Reduction Act – choosing to side with Big Pharma and the ultra-wealthy instead of South Dakotans.

Not only did every Senate Republican oppose the Inflation Reduction Act, which will lower costs for working families, 43 Republican senators, including Sen. Thune and Sen. Rounds, blocked a cap on out-of-pocket insulin costs for Americans on private insurance.

“With yesterday’s vote, South Dakota Republicans have made it official – they’ll side with anyone except hardworking South Dakotans. Over 60,000 South Dakotans have diabetes and the price cap on out-of-pocket insulin costs would have tremendously affected their lives. South Dakotans deserve senators who put working South Dakotans ahead of special interests while lowering costs for families,” said SDDP Chair Randy Seiler.

Senate Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act to tackle inflation, address the climate crisis, and reduce costs for the American people. This legislation addresses the problems of today – high healthcare costs and inflation – as well as investments in our energy security for the future.
