Chair’s Note: On Friday, the Joint Appropriations Committee rejected Medicaid expansion laid out by the Affordable Care Act. While an expansion would come too late to help the dozens of South Dakotans who will lose their lives because they don’t have access to affordable health care, Governor Daugaard has agreed to a summer study of the issue. We will come back even stronger in 2013 to fight for Medicaid expansion.
