Chairman’s Note: In the James River Basin alone, 550 manufacturing jobs are open now and another 2000 are expected to open in two years. Why can’t these South Dakota businesses fill them? Our workforce needs better education and training. It’s a fact business leaders are grappling with across South Dakota as their growth depends on a modern system of education that Governor Daugaard and Republican legislators continue to undermine in order to pay for $16 million a year in corporate giveaways. Just imagine what some of that $16 million a year could do for our students in tech schools and jobs in our local communities across South Dakota.
