Chairman’s Note: Kristi Noem’s battle against non-existent new farm dust regulations continued this week with a vote in the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Fighting regulations that don’t exist only serves to spread fear among farmers of problems they aren’t even complaining about. It doesn’t create jobs, and it certainly doesn’t help protect popular agricultural support programs, conservation efforts or incentives for biofuels. The time has long past for Kristi Noem to drop her effort to scare farmers and join the conversation concerning these real issues facing rural South Dakotans.
