House Republicans including Congresswoman Kristi Noem forced a government shutdown on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, after they bowed to tea party demands to defund or delay the Affordable Care Act before passing a budget.
Congresswoman Noem promptly closed her Sioux Falls office to in-person inquiries while Senator Tim Johnson and Senator John Thune have kept their offices open for constituents.
