As you all know, we lost a hero this week. Senator George McGovern passed away surrounded by his family and closest friends. The world remembers him for the big stories – fighting to end world hunger and his early opposition to the Vietnam War. But so many of us here in South Dakota who got to know him personally remember him for the little stories too – his willingness to listen, his quiet demeanor, his appetitive for adventure, and his unfailing integrity.

On behalf of the McGovern family, the South Dakota Democratic Party invites you to join with folks from around the state to pay tribute to Senator George McGovern. Both the public viewing and funeral will take place this week.
