Extreme Abortion Bans Are Hurting Women’s Health & Freedoms
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 2, 2024 South Dakota Democratic Party Vice Chair Jessica Meyers released the following statement on the 2nd anniversary of the leak of the Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which opened the floodgates to Trump’s extreme abortion bans across the country: |
“Donald Trump has proudly taken credit for his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, paving the way for extreme abortion bans across the country, including in South Dakota. Trump and extreme MAGA Republicans want to inflict these bans in every state as women’s health suffers as a consequence. Trump’s anti-freedom, anti-choice agenda is dangerous and unpopular, and that’s why South Dakotans must reject him at the ballot box in November.” President Biden and Vice President Harris are fighting to protect a woman’s right to choose. Their administration is calling on Congress to codify the protections of Roe into law, restoring rights that women relied on for nearly 50 years. President Biden is also promising to veto a national abortion ban. The Biden-Harris Administration is also strengthening patient privacy and access to contraception.
