Representative Karen Soli (D-Minnehaha) will be chairing a public hearing tonight as a part of the Domestic Abuse Interim Study Committee tonight in Sioux Falls.
You may remember that this past legislative session Republican legislators amended language in a domestic violence bill to exclude same sex couples. While the bill ultimately failed, the amended language showed us how Republicans will go out of their way to deny equal protections to LGBT individuals.
Luckily, Representative Soli, a strong supporter of the LGBT community, will be there to guide the hearing with respect for all South Dakotans.
