Crago Statement: Noem votes against opening government, avoiding default

Sioux Falls, SD (October 16, 2013) – South Dakota Democratic Party executive director Zach Crago released the following statement after Congresswoman Kristi Noem opposed bipartisan efforts supported by both Senator Tim Johnson and Senator John Thune to end the government shutdown and avoid catastrophic default.

“Unbelievable. Congresswoman Kristi Noem had the audacity to tell west river ranchers that she’d do everything to open our closed FSA offices then returned to Washington and voted against a bipartisan bill to open the government. Maybe Noem thinks South Dakotans aren’t paying attention. She’s wrong.

“Let there be no doubt any longer that Congresswoman Kristi Noem is going to put the tea party ahead of South Dakotans when we need her the most. This vote may be a long forgotten memory for Noem come November 2014, but South Dakotans won’t forget the pain she caused forcing a tea party government shutdown.”
