This last week, I have been traveling our great state talking to our Democratic Legislative candidates about their campaigns and providing them with 1:1 campaign training.

From Vermillion to Eagle Butte and Kennebec to Big Stone City, I have had the pleasure of running through strategy and best practices with dozens of candidates. One of my favorite questions to ask is, “Why are you running for the SD Legislature?” The answer is always the same. “I’m running so that the people in my district have a voice in Pierre that is committed to tackling the real issues – healthcare, education and jobs.”

We have great candidates running for the legislature who are running because they truly believe in the calling of public service, and they truly believe that their districts need better representation in Pierre than the representation that they have been receiving. These communities need representatives who will put partisanship aside, roll up their sleeves, and get the job done. I’m here to tell you that our candidates are ready to do just that.

I’ve had the pleasure of driving through 35 counties so far this last week and have had great conversations at every turn, of every corner. I would love to share more stories from the road, but I have plenty more road ahead of me to tackle today.

PS: Think it’s important for all Democratic candidates to get one on one training from state party staff? Keep me on the road by making a contribution of whatever you can afford today!
