SDDP RELEASES STATEMENT ON WEEKEND PROTEST IN SIOUX FALLS
SIOUX FALLS, SD – (June 2, 2020) In response to the protests that occurred on Sunday, May 31, South Dakota Democratic Party Vice Chair Nikki Gronli issued the following statement:
“There is no doubt that George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, and numerous members of the African American community should still be with us all today. Their lives were cut short by injustice and systemic racism. America has a lot of healing and learning to do. I want to thank the organizers of the peaceful protest that occurred Sunday afternoon. They bring us hope that there are brighter days ahead. We know that the incident that occurred at the Sioux Empire Mall the evening of May 31 had nothing to do with the caring, inspiring event held earlier in the day. Thanks to the police officers that protected property and citizens Sunday night and to those individuals who showed up Monday morning to clean up. Sioux Falls is a great community. The time for meaningful change is now.”
