Passing of Former Legislator Dennis Pierson
The South Dakota Democratic Party is sadden to learn of the loss of former legislator Dennis Pierson. Pierson served six years as a state Representative and Senator from 1979-1982 and 1993-1994.
Ann McGovern, the daughter of former US Senator and Democratic candidate for President George McGovern, offered the following statement:
“I had the pleasure of growing up with Denny since kindergarten in Mitchell. I always admired his kind spirit and his drive to do good for his state. He was adamant about working across the aisle, to find solutions that helped all South Dakotans. He was a true public servant who will be greatly missed.”
