Noem Claims South Dakota Has Proven that Lockdowns Are ‘Useless’
– Actually It Has Proven Noem is a Fool, Party Leader Says

Sioux Falls, SD (October 6, 2020) Governor Kristi Noem’s claim that South Dakota’s lack of a lockdown during the pandemic has proven lockdowns are ‘useless’ has drawn immediate fire from the South Dakota Democratic Party as ignorant and foolish.

“For Governor Noem to make a statement that South Dakota has proven lockdowns are useless during the current pandemic is not only wrong, it is irresponsible, ignorant and foolish,” State Democratic Party Chairman Randy Seiler said today.

South Dakota has seen its cases of COVID 19 double in just the past month with 4,274 people sick from the virus while the number of South Dakotans hospitalized with the virus has doubled in a little over two weeks.  An alarming 27 percent of South Dakotans who are being tested are testing positive for the virus and 248 people have died.

“We just had our worst week so far with South Dakotans getting sick and dying from the COVID 19 virus, and Noem is doing a victory lap for doing nothing to protect our citizens.  It is the height of arrogance and ignorance for her to claim her inaction is a badge of honor,” Seiler said.

Seiler also slammed the Governor for sitting on $600 million of the $1.25 billion federal funds provided to South Dakota through the CARES Act.

“Where is Governor Noem’s plan of action.  Small businesses are closing, farmers and ranchers are being slammed and thousands of South Dakota workers are struggling to make ends meet as they lost their jobs, not to mention Noem’s total inaction to help those who have become sick from the virus, and she is sitting on $600 million that was given to our state to help our people.  It really is stunning and malfeasant on the Governor’s part,” Seiler said.
