Foster Named to DLCC “Essential Races” List

red-dawn-foster(PINE RIDGE, S.D.) – Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post announced Red Dawn Foster’s bid for one of the District 27 seats in the South Dakota House of Representatives as an Essential Race. The DLCC’s 2016 Essential Races highlight some of this year’s most exciting candidates in some of our most crucial legislative districts, and a list of targeted races across the country will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
“This cycle’s slate of Democratic state legislative prospects across the country is unprecedented in its strength and represents the diverse communities of the rising American majority,” said Post. “Democrats are primed to make substantial gains in statehouses across the country in November, and the candidates running in our Essential Races are key to these victories. The success of these Democrats will not only decide the balance of power in many states, but also help transform statehouses into governments that better reflect the increasing diversity of the American electorate.”
“I’m honored to be receiving this national attention,” said Foster. “The additional resources this endorsement can bring will be helpful in carrying my campaign focused on expanding Medicaid to all South Dakotans, education, veterans’ issues,  and job creation and economic development to the voters in District 27.”
“The State Party is pleased the DLCC recognized Red Dawn’s race for the State Legislature. She has the potential to be a great legislator and advocate for the people of her district,” said Suzanne Jones Pranger, Executive Director of the South Dakota Democratic Party. “Red Dawn is working hard for every vote and will serve District 27 well if elected.”
