2020 District-Level Delegate Slates
Elected by Statewide Caucuses on March 21, 2020

Per the 2020 South Dakota Delegate Selection Plan, as approved by the DNC, South Dakota has a presidential primary election that is a “binding” primary. Accordingly, delegate and alternate positions shall be allocated so as to fairly reflect the expressed presidential preference of the primary voters in each district. The National Convention delegates and alternates selected at the district-level (listed below) shall be allocated in proportion to the percentage of the primary vote won in that district by each preference in priority order, except that preferences falling below a 15% threshold shall not be awarded any delegates or alternates. (Rule 14.A, Rule 14.B & Rule 14.D)

On the June 2, 2020 primary, if no presidential preference reaches a 15% threshold, the threshold shall be half the percentage of the vote received in that district by the frontrunner. (Rule 14.F)

Example: If Candidate A received 50% of the primary vote, the top five delegates from their list would be delegates to the national convention, with the rest of the delegates and alternates allocated to the primary candidates who earned above 15% percent, according to percentage earned in the primary, rounded to the nearest whole number.
