The Cost of Inaction

Print PDF

"Reform is about every American". President Obama spoke to the nation last night about the need for health care reform.  He spoke of the cost of inaction and how to make the plan work.  Follow the link to watch the press conference or read the transcript.

So let me be clear: If we do not control these costs, we will not be able to control our deficit. If we do not reform health care, your premiums and out-of-pocket costs will continue to skyrocket. If we don't act, 14,000 Americans will continue to lose their health insurance every single day. These are the consequences of inaction. These are the stakes of the debate that we're having right now…”

Sen. Johnson to Support Sotomayor

Print PDF

By The Associated Press | Tuesday, July 21, 2009

South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson said he'll support Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court when it comes before the Senate.

Johnson, a Democrat, said in a statement Tuesday that Sotomayor answered all questions thoroughly and completely during confirmation hearings, and that she has a long and varied career in law. Johnson said she made it clear that personal experience and prejudice are set aside when she rules from the bench.

South Dakota's other senator, Republican John Thune, said Monday he will vote against her confirmation.

Thank you Sen. Johnson for your support of a smart and qualified Supreme Court Nominee.

Be sure to check out this video of grassroots support for Judge Sotomayor.

Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin will seek re-election to continue her work on behalf of all South Dakotans. It is very exciting that Stephanie will run again for our sole seat in Congress. Representative Herseth Sandlin brings a tenacity, dedication, and passion for the people of South Dakota to Washington, and we will be fortunate to have her serve again.
