Ron Volesky Enters Governors Race

Former state Sen. Ron Volesky of Huron recently announced his candidacy for Governor in 2010!  Volesky, a lawyer and enrolled member of the Standing Rock Tribe, served 16 years in the South Dakota Legislature and three years as a city commissioner in Huron.  Volesky says, "As a state, we need to make some fundamental changes in how we meet the challenges of the future".  To read more about his announcement, click here.

The South Dakota chapter of the Young Democrats has just returned from the

Young Democrats of America Convention 2009.  It was a very productive

 trip for the Delegation. Reform for Indian Health Services is officially on the

YDA national platform, and Kristin Aschenbrenner, the SDYD President was

elected as the YDA Rural Caucus Secretary.  Congratulations to the SD Young Dems!

  August 4th marks the 48th birthday for the 44th President. Amid a busy schedule,

President Obama took time to bring cupcakes to White House Correspondent Helen Thomas,who turned 89 today.  We wish the President, and Helen, a very happy birthday.

Clinton Brings 'em Home

Diplomacy is the victor in the successful return of two US journalists.  "Clinton expressed words of sincere apology to Kim Jong Il for the hostile acts committed by the two American journalists against the DPRK after illegally intruding into it," the news agency reported. "Clinton courteously conveyed to Kim Jong Il an earnest request of the U.S. government to leniently pardon them and send them back home from a humanitarian point of view.
